Tribal Militants Capture Musaimeir, Southern Yemen

Tribal gunmen took control over Musaimeir District in southern Yemen. According to sources said to “Adenalghad website” that clashes broke out in the district continued for several hours between local tribal gunmen and soldiers stationed in a number of government facilities in the district in the early hours of Thursday.

According to tribal sources to “Adenalghad”, the gunmen were forces to do this step for fears that the soldiers might hand over their district to Islamic extremists, like  what had happened to Zanzibar, and the violent clashes happened in the neighboring city of Al Houta. “The militants vowed to fight the extremists and to defend their territory” Waleed Al Soufi, the leader of the tribal gunmen said to Aden Alghad.

The leader of the tribal militants clarified that there were plots hatched to make the district a stronghold of the Al Qaeda suspects in the acceptance of prominent officials, and he called the notable figures in the district to hold a conference in order to appoint a new leader to run the district
